I got my first job in food in high school working front of house at a local cafe in south Austin. That job put me through college, and then I left the food scene to pursue a career in marketing. During my marketing jobs, I enrolled in various online cooking schools, my favorite of which was Rouxbe’s Plant Based Professional course. I later went on to leave my marketing career to start a supper club and catering company, Loam. I started Karlie Cooks Plants in 2021.
